Privacy Policy
Speakeasy Ottawa is operated by 14197852 Canada Inc. at 55 York Street, Ottawa, Ontario K1N 9B7. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
What we collect
- Event inquiries. When you ask about a private event through our website, a Facebook or Instagram lead form, Google, email or phone, we collect what you give us: your name, email, phone number, company, event date, guest count, budget range and any details about your event.
- Reservations. Table bookings are handled by OpenTable under its own privacy policy.
- Payments. Deposits and memberships are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
- Website use. Our website uses cookies and similar tools, including Google tags, to measure visits and how well our ads work. These collect information such as pages viewed, the ad that brought you here, device and browser type, and approximate location.
How we use it
- To reply to your inquiry, prepare a quote and plan your event.
- To follow up about an event you asked about.
- To understand which of our ads and pages are useful, and to show our ads to people likely to be interested, including people who have visited our website.
- To meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.
We do not sell your personal information.
Email from us
We only send marketing email with your consent or where Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) allows it, for example after you have asked us about an event. Every marketing email includes a way to unsubscribe.
Who we share it with
We share information only with service providers who help us run the business, and only as needed. These include Meta (Facebook and Instagram), Google, OpenTable, Stripe, and our email and accounting providers. Some of them may store information outside Canada, where it is subject to local law.
Advertising and your choices
- You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
- You can manage how Meta uses data for ads in your Facebook or Instagram ad preferences.
- You can manage Google ad personalisation at adssettings.google.com.
- You can opt out of interest-based ads from participating companies through the Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada.
How long we keep it
We keep inquiry and event records for as long as we need them to serve you, and financial records for as long as Canadian tax law requires. After that, we delete them or make them anonymous.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or ask us to delete it, subject to any legal requirement to keep it. You can withdraw consent at any time.
